Job Description:

As the Head of Credit and Counterparty Risk, you will be expected to implement credit policies which will cover credit risk within Fixed Income, Private Equity, Real Estate & Infrastructure and the Treasury. You will also be responsible for all counterparty risk and implement effective monitoring of all counterparty exposures and associated risks.

 

Requirements

Management

  • Assist and support the Director of Risk and the Credit & Counterparty Risk Management team, in implementing the Transformation Programme and establish effective organizational structure within the company.
  • Work closely with the Private Equity, Real Estate & Infrastructure and Alternatives teams to analyse the credit risk and approve credit exposures before a deal is entered into. 
  • Work with the HR department to hire appropriately-skilled candidates 
  • Lead the Credit & Counterparty Risk function and ensure that credit risk is accurately measured, monitored and mitigating actions implemented when exposure seems too high
  • Independent review and challenge of investment proposals, to include assessment of a company’s financial performance and business background, market analysis and property economics
  • Lead and execute daily Credit Risk Management activities such as identifying and measuring Credit & Counterparty risk.

 

Reporting

  • Monitor individual investments and the overall portfolio, to identify early warning signs and to drive proactive actions to preserve portfolio quality
  • Develop Credit risk policies, generate Credit risk reports, supervise team members and maintain a strong working relationship with the Investment Team.  
  • Oversee monitoring of Risk Appetite compliance, report breaches and propose mitigation steps to the Board or respective Committee(s).
  • Identify the relevant emerging best practices in risk management globally and ensure their application in the company if appropriate

Job Requirements:

Qualifications

  • At least 10 years’ of risk management experience in a financial services industry
  • Professional Accounting Qualification and a Graduate Degree in Economics or Finance
  • Master’s Degree, CFA / FRM / PRM qualification - Preferable
  • In depth knowledge of the operations of a buyside firm 
  • Knowledge of equity, fixed income and private equity essential 
  • Highly knowledgeable in credit & counterparty risk management on the buyside 
  • In depth knowledge of latest industry development for credit risk management
  • Experience working within the Middle East regulatory environment - Preferable
  • Strong leadership and management skills 
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Capable of creating and implementing new frameworks and strategies across the organisation 
  • Highly analytical with a great attention to detail 
  • Results-driven, decisive and assertive
